Initial Conversation
The first part of the interview focuses on the projects you have worked on and the role you played. Your approach to unclear requirements, your ability to explain decision-making and your orientation in the broader context of the work are important.
It is not about checking correct answers. We aim to understand your way of working and determine whether it aligns with how our teams function and which projects might suit you.
Technical Discussion
The technical part is a permanent part of our hiring process. It takes the form of a structured discussion based on real examples. It may involve breaking down a problem, choosing between implementation options, designing architecture or describing how you resolved an issue.
We do not use theoretical tests. We are interested in how you think about a task, how you work with information and how you navigate change. If you are unfamiliar with a technology, it is sufficient to say so and describe how you would approach learning it.
Working with Errors and Complex Situations
Software development is a field in which ambiguities, changes and errors naturally occur. The interview therefore includes a discussion about how you handle such situations. It is important to clearly describe the problem, possible approaches, communication and how you evaluated the situation once it was resolved. These insights reveal your decision-making process and sense of responsibility.
What We Assess
Context awareness, the ability to describe your own processes, your approach to collaboration and your long-term view of quality all play a role. We evaluate the overall picture rather than individual answers.
At Devcity, we build digital solutions and introduce technological innovations that must be stable, secure and sustainable. The way we work reflects this, and it is essential for long-term collaboration within our teams.
Interview Format
The interview can take place online or in person. Both formats share the same content and focus on your experience, approach and technical thinking.
Online interviews are conducted via video call and are suitable for both the initial and technical part.
In-person interviews offer the same content, with the addition of visiting our office, meeting part of the team and gaining a clearer view of our company culture and daily operations.
Conclusion
An interview at Devcity is a structured process focused on practical thinking and real experience. It is not a theoretical knowledge test. The goal is to determine whether there is alignment in approach, expectations and long-term direction.
